MEGAN SALMON

Born in Perth, Western Australia, Megan Salmon came to fashion through painting. A fine art graduate of Curtin University, she was already well regarded as an expressionist painter and mark maker before she ever cut cloth, her artwork held in several state and public collections.

Megan's fashion career began in the early days of Desert Designs  the legendary label that pioneered Australian Aboriginal art on textiles. She was also one half of the WA cult label SpppsssP, a brand of manipulated, limited-run pieces riding the post-punk aesthetic of industrymeets romance.

Today, her practice remains grounded in her Fremantle studio, where Megan has worked with a small, aligned team for over twenty years. Each collection begins here: artwork developed, patterns cut, first samples made. Signature details emerge through experimentation an evolving visual language shaped by memory and movement.

As a collection enters production, it moves to small making teams across Asia - longstanding  collaborations with dedicated makers who work closely to translate complex designs into beautiful garments.

These relationships, built on shared standards and mutual respect, are central to what makes this work possible.

We work with dedicated production houses solely employed by Megan who are each deeply skilled in particular techniques. For example, our Bali production house is specialised in digital and screen printing, allowing us to create custom fabrics of Megan's original prints whilst our Vietnam production  is particularly skilled at french seams on delicate fabrics.

We value creating teams that grow and work alongside each other.

At TRYIT, we stock a curated selection of Megan Salmon. Visit us in-store in Canterbury or shop the full range online.
